Your day-long tour of Palermo and Monreale begins with your driver picking you up at your hotel in Palermo. Visit Palermo, the capital of Sicily, one of the historically and artistically richest cities on the island. During the walking tour in the historical center you will see the Cathedral, the Royal Palace of Palermo Palazzo dei Normanni with its Palatine Chapel (1132, with rich gold mosaic), the "Quattro Canti", the Martorana Church and Pretoria Square, with its ornate fountain.
At this point you’ll have free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you’ll discover nearby Monreale’s Norman Cathedral, built by Roger’s grandson William II. Its splendid 12th century mosaics, the largest cycle of Byzantine mosaics extant in Italy, and the cloister of the Benedictine monastery with Moorish architecture are an oasis of beauty and peace, as well as one of the most important sites in Sicily.
At the end of your tour, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Palermo.
