Not everyone knows that Rome is built on top of its own ruins. Over the centuries the city was rebuilt using the foundations of pre-existing buildings. A true artistic treasure to discover, hidden about ten meters below the modern street level.

The Basilica of San Clemente is one of the first attractions you will visit, famous for its two underground levels, its mosaics, medieval paintings and the Roman ruins that you will reach together with your guide. Immediately afterwards you will head to the oldest Roman consular road: the Appian way. Twenty-four centuries old, the ancient pavement is still intact, and all around are the famous ruins of the Tomb of Cecilia Metella and the Villa of the Emperor Maxentius.

The largest archaeological park in Europe and site of the most famous Christian Catacombs in Rome. A visit to the Catacombs of San Callisto or San Sebastiano cannot be missed. You will go down the corridors excavated for centuries by Christians as a burial and prayer place, abandoned and rediscovered in modern times. A unique place in the world to bring back home an unforgettable memory.

You will be picked up at your hotel lobby at 9AM.  Our drivers are knowledgeable about the history and the culture.
