Description

Among the most famous art collections in the world, located inside the Borghese Park in the center of Rome, just outside the old city walls. The Villa was built in the 17 century to guess the great art collection from all over Italy and by different artists owned by the powerful Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of the Pope Paul V.

It’s considered to be today one of the few remaining historical villas that still has most of the original structure and architecture left. You can admire paintings and sculptures accomplished between the XV and the XVIII century by some of the most famous artist in the world like Bernini “The David”, Raffaello “The Deposition”, Caravaggio “David with the Head of Goliath”, Rubens, Canova “Pauline Bonaparte”,  Tiziano “Sacred and Profane Love”. Part of the collection was sold to France during Napoleon’s period. In 1901 the Italian government purchased the gallery.
