Mt Vesuvius Half-Day Trip from Naples Rail rail pick up
Description
The Vesuvius is one of the most studied and well-known volcanoes in the world. A symbol of Naples with its unique shape, it has a typical frusto-conical shape, with its highest peak reaching 1277 metres. The crater currently has a diameter of 450 metres and a depth of 300 metres. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae, as well as several other settlements. Pick up at the station meeting point in Naples around 9:30 and drive by highway directly to Torre del Greco village where we begin our climb passing through Vesuvius National Park until 1000 mt. From the parking place access to the path going to the top of the only still active volcano of continental Europe. Two hours at your disposal to reach and walk around the crater at 1200 mt to see the charming bay of Naples from eastern to western side. Be back to the parking at the time fixed by the driver and return to Naples with drop off at the station around 13:00
