Description

A few miles from Rome, after only about thirty minutes by car, you will discover the wonders of Tivoli. A small city, famous all over Europe for its incredible Villas, built from the times of the Roman Empire until the sixteenth century. Tivoli is located on an ancient road built by the Romans, called Tiburtina, which still today connects the town to Rome, the area was very rich in water and famous for its Travertine quarries. The Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD) chose Tivoli as a place to build his sumptuous villa, enriched with statues, mosaics, precious marbles, thermal baths, the theater.

A private residence, far enough from the Eternal City to guarantee the Emperor moments of rest far from his political commitments.A few centuries later, Cardinal Ippolito D’Este decided to build his private Villa in Tivoli. Extraordinary example of Renaissance Villa restored in modern times. Its incredible fountains are the major attraction of Tivoli. Famous artists such as Gian Lorenzo Berbini have left their mark to confirm the artistic importance of the place.The tour of Tivoli Gardens usually starts at 9am.

Your driver will meet you at your hotel or private apartment at 9AM. You can request when you arrive to Tivoli a local tour guide who will stay with you for the fully private visit of the two villas (Hadrian’s Villa and Villa D’Este). If you wish we can book lunch and wine tasting for you in one of the local restaurants. At 5PM you’ll be back to your hotel, hoping you enjoyed your tour.
