Tuscany Countryside, Pisa & San Gimignano from Livorno (9hrs)
Description
A journey through the Tuscan countryside, one of the most beautiful and famous regions of central Italy. A green hilly landscape whose origins date back to Etruscan culture and where ancient villages and settlements have retained their charm with still intact medieval squares and towers. You will admire the famous “wine route” where the real stars are the most appreciated wines in the world: Chianti and Brunello. Located on the western coast of Italy, Pisa is only few minutes from the Mediterranean sea and with a population of just 90,000 it is one of the smaller cities of the Tuscan region, but it has one of the most incredible tourist attractions of Italy: the leaning tower. San Gimignano rises on a hill dominating the Elsa Valley with its towers. Once the seat of a small Etruscan village of the Hellenistic period (200-300 BC) it began its life as a town in the 10th century taking its name from the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who is said to have saved the village from the barbarian hordes.
